This legendary symbol combines the awesome powers and attributes of the dragon and the tortoise. These are two of the four spiritually endowed creatures of Chinese symbolism. Like the chi lin, this is a creature of the imagination and it demonstrates the way the Chinese use symbolism to enhance the physical space of their living environment.
